Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association (EDBFA) – Over the years, the EDBFA has been a strong partner of Breast Friends, in that it supports the Team’s training needs in terms of coaching, steering and drumming and supplying all equipment to make our racing season the success that it is. The Team has to thank EDBFA for their co-operation in making possible the Pink Ribbon Challenge, a breast cancer race in which all survivor teams compete. YMCA – Sponsor since 2008 The Don Wheaton Family YMCA has welcomed our wave of women in pink with open arms. The brand new facility provides discounted memberships to Breast Friends team members during our training months of February to June. Breast Friends Society, which operates the Breast Friends Dragon Boat Racing Team, invites partnerships with individuals and organizations. There are two types of partnering opportunities – Donations or Sponsorships.

Donations

Donations are accepted from individuals or companies. As Breast Friends Society has a charitable status, when you make a donation, we will provide you with a tax deductible donation receipt. Be sure to request one.

Sponsorships

Sponsorships are accepted from individuals and organizations and Breast Friends acknowledges sponsor support in many public ways through the season. There are two types of sponsorships – “Monetary” and “In Kind”.

  • Monetary Sponsorship: This type of sponsorship requires a minimum donation of $1,000
  • Sponsorship “In Kind”: An ‘in kind’ sponsor provides one or more services the team can use

How Do We Use Funds Received?

Sponsorship funds help pay for our operating costs, which include:

  • Training – includes coaching staff and facility rental
  • Purchasing and maintaining equipment including insurance, storage and transport
  • Festival registrations (both in and out of province)
  • Travel subsidies to make attendance at festivals more affordable for members
  • Producing and providing educational presentations to promote breast cancer awareness through speaking engagements and information booths

How Will Sponsoring Breast Friends Dragon Boat Racing Team benefit you?

As a sponsor of our Team, you and your company will receive exposure in many ways:

  • Our Team shirts and banner will display your company’s name at all festivals the Team participates in. The festivals are attended by hundreds of spectators.
  • Our website will include your company information and a link to your website
  • Breast Friends’ Education Committee, which makes presentations to various businesses and interested organizations, will recognize you as a sponsor.
  • You will be invited to our annual paddle and picnic and to the Edmonton Dragon Boat festival (held the third weekend of August).
